Pregabalin (Lyrica) is prescribed very widely in Japan for neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia, with more than 90 listed products. Unlike in the UK, it is not a controlled substance in Japan, so the ordinary 1-month import rule applies and any clinic can prescribe it. Gabapentin, by contrast, is approved here only as an add-on for epilepsy.
