NSAID / antiplatelet

Aspirin

Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid)

Aspirin plays two roles in Japan. As a painkiller it is OTC in Bufferin A, but Japanese doctors rarely prescribe it for pain. As a daily low-dose antiplatelet (Bayaspirin 100 mg, and 81 mg combinations) it is prescription-only, so travelers on daily aspirin should bring their supply; there is no OTC low-dose product to buy locally.
