Minoxidil (topical)
Topical minoxidil is the one hair-loss treatment sold without a prescription in Japan, as Riup X5 and several store brands. Prices are higher than US Rogaine (around ¥7,000–8,000 for a 60 mL bottle). Oral minoxidil, increasingly prescribed abroad, is not approved here and is only available off-label at private clinics.
