Finasteride (Propecia)
Finasteride
Finasteride 1 mg (Propecia and Japanese generics) is prescribed for male pattern hair loss at the patient's own expense, since cosmetic treatments are outside Japanese health insurance. Dutasteride (Zagallo) is also approved here for hair loss, which is unusual internationally. Both may be brought in under the 1-month rule.
