Placenta injection (Laennec, Melsmon)

Human placenta extract (Laennec, Melsmon)

Human placenta extract injections are a Japanese specialty with no equivalent in the US or Europe: Laennec and Melsmon are approved medicines, and cosmetic clinics inject them for skin and fatigue at around ¥1,500–3,000 per shot. One important consequence: anyone who has received them is permanently barred from donating blood in Japan.
