Contraception / menstrual disorders

Birth control pill (combined oral contraceptive)

Combined oral contraceptive (ethinylestradiol + progestin) · ルナベル · ジェミーナ · ヤーズ

The pill requires a prescription in Japan and, for contraception, is not covered by insurance (about ¥2,000–3,000 a month at gynecology or online clinics). Common brands are Marvelon, Triquilar, Ange and Favoir; Yaz and Lunabell are prescribed for painful periods. Bring your own supply for up to 1 month without paperwork; a Japanese gynecologist can usually match your formulation.
