Kampo (Japanese herbal medicine)

Shakuyakukanzoto (Kampo for muscle cramps)

Shakuyakukanzoto (Kampo extract)

Shakuyakukanzoto, just two herbs (peony root and licorice), is Japan's go-to remedy for sudden muscle cramps and is often prescribed alongside cancer treatment or for menstrual cramps. It works within minutes but its licorice can raise blood pressure and lower potassium, so it is meant for short-term use.
